This compact hard covered
book is deserving a place in every Stoker’s ready reference library. If
you are a recreational boat owner or know someone that has one, this book is for
you. Not everyone can remember their QL5 lessons from the old Corvette Shop or
even from S88 but this book should get you out of trouble every time, impressing
your passengers or neighbor when the putt-putt, putt putts no more.
Filled with simple, easy to follow flow charts and clear line drawings it
is a pleasure to use. Using a common sense approach to Stokering, author Peter
Compton makes the task of troubleshooting and maintaining a Marine Diesel easy
enough for even a Rhib Cox’n (Who Dat? ed) to keep operating flawlessly.

The Ten Chapters and Appendix cover everything from Maintaining
Your Diesel to Controls and Instruments.
The Appendix is a Guide to what the good stoker (you and I) would/should
have on board such as tools, spare parts ranging from essential spares like a
assorted hose clamps to cruising spares like spare injectors and alternator
diode pack. Rounding out the appendix is a list of recommended goops, sprays,
potions and lotions required for maintenance.
A handy little textbook, this guide could make you
the Diesel Guru of the neighbourhood or Outside Machinery.
