Marine Institute - St-John's Nfld.
Good Day
Thought I would send a few pictures of the METTPs and an update.
We presently have 18 METTPs in their second term (total of four terms).
We lost four in the first term due to academic failures. Of these 18, six are from the Fleet and the majority of the
remainder have not done BMQ (only a two week indoctrination course).
On successful completion of the second term, Fleet personnel will be
employed locally, nine will proceed
to BMQ in Windsor park followed by OSQAB for all 12.
These personnel are due to graduate in April of 03 and will then proceed
to ship’s where they will have six months to complete their AMOC.
On successful completion of AMOC they will proceed to Fleet school for
Phase 10 trg, i.e. machine shop etc. We
have 29 more METTP’s accepted for 24 billets starting classes on 23 April 02.
By Sept. 02 we will have 120 students in house
between the two programs (METTP & NCSTTP) and another 84 starting in Jan.
03. It is and will be very busy
around here.
