I was going through some of my web files and I came across this job at a
local Halifax Hospital. Thought it is the perfect job for a stoker. Only needs a
4th Class ticket and it is part time so he can still go golfing.

The company has opened up positions on their site at www.opg.com
The position is Nuclear Operator and between Pickering and Darlington (Bowmanville) plants there are to be over 100 new hires in the next year (2005).
If you can send a strong cover letter and resume to them through their site, you never know what might happen.
I have been employed for almost four years now and would be happy to entertain any questions you may have by emailing hallt@sympatico.ca
Good luck,
Tony Hall (Posted Feb 09 2005)

SNC-Lavalin Defence Programs
Background:
Under the Minor Warships and Auxiliary Vessels In-Service Support Project, SNC-Lavalin currently provides all maintenance, logistics, documentation, engineering, quality assurance, and deployment support for the MCDV vessels. The Navy's Auxiliary vessels are being transitioned to the ISSP over the next year and SNC-Lavalin will be adding Ship Managers to our existing team of East Coast Ship Managers (Ralph Hayden, Winston French and Charlie Balogh), based out of our office in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. This a four year project, possibly followed by four one year extensions. We have competed one year of this contract. We will be expected to support approximately 75 vessels for the Canadian Navy by this time next year. We have been providing ISSP for the MCDVs and MSAs for the past nine years. Our programs operate under an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certification.
Requirements for the position are:
Former member of the Canadian Forces who served either as a Chief Engine Room Artificer as a Chief Petty Office 2nd Class, MOC 314 with Certificate 4 and should have recent (within the last five years) shore experience ( minimum of two years) in the maintenance of vessels to commercial standards.
Job duties are:
· Manage the day to day maintenance activity of the vessels assigned to them;
· Carry out in-process inspections as noted in specifications or planned maintenance routines, and sign-off hold-points.
· Inspect completed work carried out by service providers prior to signing work completion forms.
· Inspect material delivered to clients.
· Identify and report non-conformities related to their work.
· Immediately report issues or incidents with a legal, safety, environmental or large financial component to the Support Supervisor. Take charge at the scene of incidents until adequately relieved.
· Participate in the disposition of non-conformities, including raising Quality Deficiency Reports and Observation Reports.
Notes:
Be under no illusions, the Ship Manager's job is not a desk job. It is demanding; it requires: occasional work on weekends, travel for deployment support and for docking/refit support. It requires you to work out of a half ton truck with a cell phone on the end of jetty in the middle of winter. We are only interested in highly motivated and experienced individuals dedicated to keeping ships at sea . Applicants who successfully make it through the Résumé screening process will be notified in early July 03 of interview times. Interviews will take place shortly there after. We are expecting to be able to hire the successful applicant effective early September 03. Please submit your Résumé with covering letter in confidence to:
Clint Laidlaw,
Operations Manager,

Or via e-mail to: clint.laidlaw@sldpi.com
Just a quick note saying that there is no problem transferring a NS 4th Class Stationary to a Nfld. 4th Class Power Engineer other than $40.00. I just did it and am working as an engineer in a fish plant here on the Rock. If anyone needs the contact info, let me know, and I will email it. There is no problem getting a job here as a 4th Class. In the last 2 weeks, I have seen 4 job openings for 4th and 3rd Class.

find informative.
